It’s a shame indeed that with what may be the most exciting Formula One season for a few years happening on the tarmac, the FIA and FOTA can’t seem to see that what they’re doing is damaging the sport and its future.
OK, so its not quite as predictable as one might like, but the racing on circuit is certainly better than in recent years, with more overtaking, and close racing. Not always for pole, or the lead, I grant you, but somewhere in the field something interesting is usually happening. The pit stops and strategy still influence the racing, with the on-track antics still counting. It’s certainly a good mix as far as I’m concerned.
I’m hopeful that it won’t actually die. It is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport, and whilst not all, certainly some drivers aspire to become F1 drivers. With such damage being done at the top, you have to hope that damage won’t flow downwards and impact club motorsport.
I will still enjoy, attend and marshal club motorsport, but will certainly be watching to see what happens to F1 in the coming weeks!
In the mean time, it’ll be interesting to see if Jenson and Brawn GP can podium again.
